Contexte
Lovebox has two logistics partners based in France and the United States. Production takes place in China, and when I arrived, shipments from China to the USA and France were made exclusively by air.
For financial and ecological reasons, Lovebox now wishes to give priority to rail and sea transport.
Project management
- Implementation of a google sheet for stock tracking and reorder alerts ;
- Obtaining information from freight partners on rail and sea freight operations ;
- Setting up processes for shipping goods by ship (USA) or train (France) (pallet size, customs documents, consolidation, transit times, etc.) ;
- Test an initial shipment and optimize recommendation times and processes according to the problems encountered (transport crisis in particular) ;
- Calculation of the cost savings (impact on COGS) and carbon impact of the Lovebox ;
Conclusion
This project resulted in a reduction by 36 in the impact of Lovebox transport on its carbon footprint. It also helped save between $2.5 and $4 on the cost of a Lovebox.
Stock-outs were further avoided thanks to an efficient stock forecasting tool.
